Merge PDF stitches multiple PDF files into a single document, in whatever order you choose. Everything runs through pdf-lib inside your browser tab: each file is parsed, its pages copied into a new document, and the result reassembled without a server ever seeing it. Because there's no upload step, merging finishes almost instantly and stays private by construction. You can combine up to 20 files in one pass — the only other ceiling is how much memory your browser has to work with.

Frequently asked questions
Are my files uploaded to a server?
No. Merging happens entirely in your browser — your PDFs never leave your device.
Is there a file limit?
You can merge up to 20 PDFs at once. Very large files are limited only by your device's memory.
Will the quality change?
No. Pages are copied as-is, with no re-compression or quality loss.
Can I merge password-protected PDFs?
Not directly. The merger can't open encrypted files, so remove the password first — for example with our Unlock PDF tool — then merge as usual.
Can I merge just some pages from a file, not the whole thing?
Not in this tool — Merge PDF always combines complete documents. To merge only specific pages, use Split PDF or Organize PDF first to create a file with just the pages you want.
What if a file won't merge?
Corrupted PDFs or files using unusual encryption sometimes fail to load. Try opening the file in a PDF reader and re-saving it, then merge again.
Do I still need Organize PDF after merging files?
Merge PDF combines several separate files into one; Organize PDF reorders, rotates, or deletes pages within a single PDF you already have. Use Organize PDF afterward if you need to fine-tune the page order.
Good to know
- Password-protected PDFs can't be opened by the merger; remove the password with a tool like Unlock PDF first.
- Merging always uses complete files — to drop a page from the middle of one document, split or organize it before combining.
- Up to 20 files per merge, and total size is capped only by your browser's available memory, not a fixed number.
- Sorting by name uses each file's original filename, so rename files beforehand if you need a specific order that way.
