Choose the standard 4.0 scale used across the US and much of the world, or one of two Saudi scales, including a 5.0 scale where even an F still earns 1.0 grade points. Which grading scales are supported?
The standard 4.0 scale used in the US, Canada, and many universities worldwide, plus regional scales: the Saudi 5.0 scale (where F correctly earns 1.0 grade points, not 0 — a detail many calculators get wrong) and the Saudi 4.0 variant. More scales are added on request.
How is GPA calculated?
Each course's grade points are multiplied by its credit hours, the products are summed, and the total is divided by the total credit hours. Courses with more credits weigh more.
How does cumulative mode work?
Enter your prior cumulative GPA and the credit hours it covers. We convert it back to total grade points, add this term's points and credits, and recompute the combined GPA.
Are my grades sent to a server?
Everything is calculated locally in this browser tab using plain JavaScript — no course names, grades, or credit hours are transmitted anywhere. Refreshing the page clears your entries, since nothing is saved on a server to begin with.
Can I remove a course after adding it?
Yes — each course row has a small × button next to it that removes just that row and recalculates the GPA immediately. You always need at least one row, so the button is disabled once you're down to a single course.
What happens if I switch grading scales after entering grades?
Grades that exist on the new scale, like A or B, stay as they are; any grade that only exists on the old scale resets to the new scale's top grade so the row doesn't break. It's worth double-checking each row's grade after switching, since a B+ can carry a different point value depending on the scale.
Should I trust this over my university's official GPA calculation?
This tool is handy for quick what-if scenarios, like checking how a grade change would move your average, and it uses the exact official point tables for each supported scale. For anything that goes on an official record — financial aid, graduation requirements, transcripts — confirm the number against your registrar's own calculation, since local policies occasionally add rules this generic tool doesn't know about.

- Grading scales and how an F is scored vary by university, even within the same country — always check your institution's official policy before relying on the result for anything official.
- Only the three built-in scales are available; a school using a different point system will need to convert its grades to one of these scales manually first.
- Cumulative mode assumes your prior GPA was calculated the same way this tool calculates it, so mixing scales between terms can throw off the combined result.
